Light Poetry
StarDust

StarDust consists of dots and lines with different sizes and appearances. With irregular quadrilaterals, pentagons and hexagons, Marc de Groot manages to create a perfect spherical shape, crafted by hand in his workshop in Amsterdam and with modern laser fiber techniques, outsourced in the neighborhood/by local experts.
StarDust spreads light like a starry sky projected on Earth and refers to our galaxy.
Preview Exhibition: Kunstgemaal “Aangespoeld” Exhibition 2020

We are proud to present new variations of our StarDust! The StarDust Wall consists of dots and lines with different sizes and appearances. With irregular quadrilaterals, pentagons and hexa-gons, Marc de Groot manages to create a perfect spherical shape. StarDust spreads light like a starry sky projected on Earth and refers to our galaxy. Pair several StarDust Walls in different sizes to create an enchanting galaxy…
Light poetry…
Light designer Marc de Groot creates light poetry by translating structures, ratios and patterns derived from nature into poetic, spatial lighting designs. With Japanese precision he designs lighting like it is metal origami, combining traditional handcraft with modern techniques.

"Touching the essence of the honey comb"
Marc de Groot used the fascinating structure of the honeycomb as a starting point. The structure of the honeycomb, which Darwin in 1859 already designated absolutely perfect, appears to be a unique base for light.
It creates a new vision on the use of the honeycomb structure. This beautiful combination of form and function creates the Beehive natural light. It has a sophisticated balance in light and shade.

Helix
Helix
"If you touch the mathematical elements in a design, natural beauty appears"
The idea to realise beauty through mathematical calculation is not a new one. Even Leonardo da Vinci tried to decode the secret of harmonious composition with his so called, “Golden Ratio”. Following in his footsteps, the Dutch designer Marc de Groot adopted a formula first conceived by the medieval mathematician Fibonacci when crafting his Helix Light. The geometric lamp shade distributes its warm glow not only downwards, but also laterally by way of the minute gaps between each of the brushed brass plates. This fascinating union of the scientific and the creative produces an awe-inspiring effect.
The Helix uses just one basic geometric form and an ingenious enigmatic pattern to create an innovated and beautiful modern form referring to the classic industrial lights. A unique design of the Helix originates of a mathematical theory by Fibonacci. Marc was able to create natural beauty out of simplicity and a natural pattern.

In mathematics a fractal is an abstract shape that repeats itself, the FRACTAL is created by repeating the hexagon shape in different ways. All lines of the FRACTAL lead to the core, from this source the light emits into the space.
Marc de Groot’s work focuses on simplicity, craftsmanship and keeping an eye for detail, without losing functional aspects of the product. Function, Form and Ergonomics are inseparable in our design and therefore an authentic signature.

"Inspired by the industry of Bomb-craft"
Explosive beauty, excitement and attraction, a combination of apparent contradictions.
BOOOM! is build up from an ingenious square based pattern folded together to a beautiful sphere. Inspired by the industry of Bomb-craft.
The turnaround of the switch ignites the Booom! light ...and it illuminates the room.
